Auburn: Service Agreement

Hey!

This Blog will be going over an example contract in hopes to gain some knowledge in the legal world about music, copyright and ownership. To do this, I will be creating a hypothetical Contract for my new side project.

The Project:

This trimester, I have recently found myself in a new musical project with a past band member, I will be acting as a Producer, Engineer, Mixing Engineer and Mastering Engineer. To do this, I will be creating a contract that will be signed by both parties included, the Artist and Myself. I will be creating a Service Agreement because of how simplistic it is and the nature of the contract. To understand more about what a Service Agreement, here is a quote by Lachlan McKnight from Legalvision.com.

“A service agreement is an agreement made by two parties that documents the agreement between them with regards to the performance of the service(s) by one party (the service provider) to the other (the principal). Service agreements are very common and can be used in a wide variety of circumstances. They set out the fundamental terms of the relationship between the principal and service provider”

I, George Hickman, will be Recording, Mixing and Mastering the song Auburn by Patrick Lewer. The Artist (Patrick Lewer), not the Engineer (George Hickman), will be paying for the studio time needed to fulfill this project. George Hickman will be paid $50 per hour to complete the project, with a final Mixing and Mastering Price of a flat $200.
