Project Brief
Auburn is the name of the first song that solo artist Patrick lewer is hoping to get Recorded, Produced, Mixed and Mastered. Patrick has written a Shoegaze / Dream pop song, but being a solo artist who can only play guitar / piano, he is looking for a producer to help his creation come to light. This is a Solo project where I will be creating a composition including Bass guitar, Drums, Synthesisers, Special Effects and Recorded instrumentation from Patrick. It will also then end to be mixed and master ready for release, Patrick is hoping to finish of the rest of his EP before this track finds a public release.
The majority of the project will be recorded on the Gold Coast in my own home. Guitar will be recorded as a DI and all Piano parts will be played via Midi keyboard into Ableton Live. The only part in which will need extra attention is the Vocal Recording, We plan to record the vocals at home via treating the room with anything we can get our hands on, or in the Avid s6 if there is enough time to do so. There is also a graphic design, Monica Mendoza working on the album artwork, Brief was done in person, photo examples below.
Reference Track
The Reference track for this production is ‘Millimillenary’ by The Cocteau Twins.
This has been chosen due to the drum track, composition and overall sonic aesthetic in the sense that the production and melodic content gives off a certain atmosphere that Patrick is wanting to achieve. To get the same drum sound, I will be using purchased LinnDrum samples for the percussion, A standard bass Guitar send through a VST Re-amp to achieve a standard sounding bass. The rest of the production will come as the song goes along, it will be a effect heavy track featuring a wide variety of delay effects including; Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Tape Echo and Ping pong Delay. The use of automation and re-sampling will be harnessed to achieve a modern and interesting take on the standard dream pop sound and formula.

Conclusion
Though this Pre-Project Plan is short and might seem light on information, it has been done so due to the fact the project is merely a side project, and that is something to keep in mind. My main Mufaro Project with Callum Hicks takes a priority over all other projects I am involved in, meaning this project might need to stay as a bedroom project due to using my recording time on Mufaro. Below is the rough mix and beginning of production as of today.
