In this blog I will be going over the hypothetical budget and pricing of Callum and Myself's major project, Recording Mufaro. Mufaro contacted Callum and recording his latest EP, a 5 track project that includes a full band and extra overdubbed instrumentation. Below I will go over this Hypothetical Situation in which Mufaro would be paying for our services. But before we do so, There are a few things I will mention. The price in which Callum and Myself charge is $30 an hour for a recording session and a subsequent $100 for each track to be mixed. We will be budgeting a 14 hour schedule in which Mufaro will be able to record all parts of his EP, after this session and the final mix down, we will be getting the studio (in which we hired) to master the tracks. Lets get down to business....
Budget:
14 Hours Studio Time at Alchemix = $1000 (with the 7hr day recording package)
(y) Hours of Extra Studio Time = (y) x $77 (Alchemix charges $77 per hour)
12 Hours of Recording Engineer/s Time = $840
14 x $30 = $420.00
X2 = $840
5 Tracks Mixed = $500 (flat $100 for each track)
5 Tracks Mastered at Alchemix Studios = $330 - $440
This gives a total of about ~ $2,780 though this price could vary due to needing extra Recording or Mastering time.

Though this is just a hypothetical budget, this exercise is very important. It is also an important part to any project worked on, making sure both parties are aware of the prices and details of each expense. This step is usually one of the most important steps in any project and should land before any work actually has begun to avoid any unwanted difficulties or drama.
