Reflecting On My Pitch

Today Callum Hicks and Myself pitched to our cohort the project plan for the EP we are recording, mixing and mastering for Mufaro. We had a pretty concise presentation, covering all major aspects; Brief, milestones, session layouts, equipment lists, etc. There were a few aspects in which I feel we fell short in communicating our project.
Among the few hick-ups we had, covering specific detail was the most common. Together we managed to miss detail on what genre the artist was. Though this wasn’t all that bad as the reference track was pretty accurate, I feel as though missing this information resulted in people loosing attention. This lose of attention happened a few times to my fault, on a few occasions I looked away from the PowerPoint or tried to go off-the-cuff that resulted in my stuttering of words. A solution to this issue would be to rehearse more, concentrate on being more specific with my words and having focus to what im saying.
Well.. How successful do I think the pitch was? It is hard to say, I sit right on the fence between very successful and moderately. I feel as though the audience was understanding and aware of what we are trying to achieve but the few issues I have touched on really brought down their attention span.
Things to Improve:
Practice: making sure I fully understand the pitch before presenting
Self Critique: Taking a step back and thinking of all questions that might come up
Focus: If I am to go off-the-cuffs - make sure I know exactly what I am trying to get at
Cohesion: make sure the pitch touches on everything it needs to but without the fat
Thanks!
